Rules for garage businesses
A workshop produces hazardous waste almost daily: waste oil (EURAL 13 02), oil filters, brake and coolant fluid, batteries and cleaning cloths. The rules are clear: store above spill trays in sound packaging, have the oil-water separator emptied periodically and have every removal registered by a VIHB-registered collector. IAM arranges this with fixed schedules and the right packaging.

Drums and packaging with oil or fluids stand on an impermeable floor or above a spill tray with sufficient capacity.

The separator and sludge trap must be emptied and checked periodically; the sludge is hazardous waste with its own route.
Registration of every removal
Every collection is recorded with a consignment note you keep for five years — your proof during an environmental inspection.

Yes. For garages and dealerships we set up a recurring schedule, tailored to your volume, so your storage never overflows.
Is my garage waste hazardous waste?
Many automotive streams (oil, filters, brake fluid) are KGA and hazardous waste and may only be collected by a VIHB-registered collector. IAM is.
Do I get paid for my waste oil?
You may. Clean, water-free waste oil has value; depending on quality and volume you receive compensation. We assess this at intake.
How often must the oil-water separator be emptied?
That depends on how intensively the wash bay and workshop are used. At least yearly emptying and inspection is common; more often with intensive use.
What counts as KGA in the workshop?
Among others: brake fluid, coolant, oil filters, batteries, aerosols, paint residues and oil-soaked cloths and granules.
Do you also supply the drums and spill trays?
Yes. We place suitable, approved packaging for oil, filters, coolant and KGA and exchange full drums at every collection.
What does garage-waste collection cost?
For most garages the bill is a combination: costs for KGA streams such as filters and coolant, and revenue for clean waste oil. Net, that is often lower than expected. The price depends on volumes, packaging and frequency — after a short intake you receive one clear quote.
